The scopes of SMO’s work includes...

The scopes of SMO’s work include Saba television’s two channels (1st channel with 24 hours and 2nd channel with 12 hours broadcast) in six largest provinces, Nawa radio’s two channels each with 24 hours broadcast in 22 provinces, GandharaProduction Unit and Fajer Designing and Printing Press.

Totally 22 provinces (Kabul, Balkh, Herat, Kandahar, Nangarhar, Parwan, Kapisa, Panjsher, Ghazni, Paktya, Faryab, Farah, Kunduz, Baghlan, Maidan-Wardak, Logar, Uruzgan, Nimroz, Zabul, Helmand, Ghor and Badghis) are under coverage of SMO through Nawa radio and Saba TV with millions of audiences. Gandahara Production Unit fully supports Saba TV and Nawa radio by producing audio and video programs. Most of these programs were produced in advanced and are collected in SMO archive.

SMO aims to a nationwide coverage and it joins efforts with other national and local media initiatives to achieve its long-term goals. Therefore, it has had ensured its nation-wide coverage through networking with various local radios and expansion of Saba TV to other provinces through cable networks making SMO operational almost all over Afghanistan.

SMO Affiliation: SMO is a member of Partners in Development Network, which has consisted of four same-mind organizations:

CHA as the service delivery wing of the Network;

SMO as the media wing of the Network;

OHRD as the capacity development wing of the Network;

WBRAO as the advocacy wing of the Network;

Moreover, SMO has made effective efforts in the field of networking with other institutions: SMO is member of AWAC, founding member of social watch Afghanistan, affiliated member of AIBD, member of Education consortium with ADA, CHA, AWEC, CoAR and MSPA, partnership with AIHRC, full member of ABU, active member of Child Abuse Prevention Campaign globally organized by WWSF (, active member of GCE and strategic partnership with local radio stations throughout Afghanistan.

SMO National Campaigning Program: SMO regularly organizes national campaigns on most prioritized needs of Afghans including education, justice, peace and child abuse prevention. Education for all campaign is linked with GCE, Peace for all with World Peace Day and child abuse prevention with WWSF.
